I came to Michelle Looking for a puppy to help fill a huge void left behind from the loss of my own 9 month old mal puppy, and what I found was a real person who wasn’t interested in just another sale, someone who wasn’t just looking to sell me a puppy. Michelle was wonderful, and was more concerned on helping me grieve and get over my loss rather than making the sale. Michelle was always there to talk with, if I needed someone to listen to me. She was also there of coarse, to answer any questions or concerns I had about adopting one of her puppies. I can’t say enough about the dedication Michelle puts into raising her puppies, and her love of this wonderful breed. She is one of the most honest and ethical breeders I have came across in a very long time. She truly cares about her dogs, and where she places any of her puppies. Michelle takes the time to make sure her puppies are going to homes where they will be loved and respected. As we should all know, a malamute is not the breed for just anyone, and once that mal has grown some and dug up half the yard and tested your patience for the last time, and still doesn’t obey your every command, Michelle will be there to give you the advice you need on how to deal with your little malamute monster! Michelle is a terrific person and an excellent breeder, and I would recommend her to anyone looking to add that special puppy into their life. Her first concern is that of her puppies, and not anything else I cannot thank Michelle and David enough for placing one the their precious puppies into our home. Sieanna has brought so much life back into our house, and some much needed laughter after the loss we experienced. We love our little gir, and look forward to owning another Shelaskan malamute someday in the future!… Lisa Thornton – Ingersoll Ontario
I have known Michelle for more than 15 years. She was one of *the* first malamute people to help me when I was greener than grass. Although i did not own a Shelaskan Malamute at the time she offered help with grooming and showing tips Unlike many other exhibitors/breeders who seemed like they were offering good advice, her help and dedication to the breed was and continues to be genuine. I took some time out of showing and when I decided to get back into it Michelle didn’t hesitate to offer me a Shelaskan pup. When she said she was going to give me a good show quality pup I had my doubts on how *good* it was really going to be. But that pup was a great puppy, taking mulitple breed wins as both junior and senior puppy finishing off his championship with a group win at the tender age of 18 months. Michelle will always tell it like it is even if tha’ts not what you want to hear, and she is always there to help whether it’s something as simple as grooming and handling for puppies etc or as complicated as making a life decision for a mature dog. Keep up the great work Michelle you *are* doing the breed proud!!

I have know Michelle for over 20 years and her dedication to breeding dogs is ten fold. I currently own three mals from Shelaskan Kennel. I would recommend anyone should they want a beautiful malamute from Michelle.

“Shelaskan’s Keeno Nanook (Keeno) was our first dog from Shelly. She came to live with us in 1995. She was a typical Malamute, stubborn, funny, energetic and relatively obedient who loved all people and children. She was a strikingly beautiful seal colour with a full mask and she received many compliments. She resembled her dam Nanook (Nanny) down to the smallest detail. Her behaviour was the same too; quirky and funny. We went to many events where Keeno competed in various competitions such as weight pull, fun conformation classes, or races, and won several medals. She was as proud as a peacock with the ribbons around her neck. It was a very sad day when she left this earth. The house was very empty but not for too long.
Shelaskan’s Cameo Jem (Jem) was our next dog from Shelly. She a was a beautiful seal girl also who had a great personality. Although somewhat different from Keeno, we knew that each dog has to be accepted as they are. Though she was expelled from basic obedience school, six months later she won an obedience class with the highest score. Jem loved people and children too and they were drawn to her, as well. When Jem went over the Rainbow Bridge, it was another very sad day for us and we still miss her presence in the house.”
